Snooker at BBGC

Dear members,

Snooker is alive and thriving at Burnham Beeches Golf Club! We are so lucky to still have a traditional snooker table at our club and I am reminded of that fact on many occasions, particularly when I have played in matches against other clubs when my opponents show their envy.

We now have two competitions each year. In Winter we have a League which gets us out of the house when we cannot play Golf, but then what would I know about that! In Summer there is a Knockout competition when it is easier for everyone to enjoy both golf and snooker!

More importantly, there are some of us who after a golf roll-up like to play a few frames and everybody of any ability is welcome to play.

Please contact me if you want to be involved.

SNOOKER LEAGUE 2022/23

It’s the time of year that we normally start the annual Snooker League until the unexpected problem of Covid. A notice to the regular participants has been sent out and it is a good response so far. Hopefully someone who played in their youth might want to be the new Steve Davis?

I know that new members are not always aware of this facility which enables us to meet in a more competitive situation? We welcome anyone of any ability to join us in a very friendly competition.

The competition starts at the beginning of October, runs during the winter months, and normally concludes at the end of March. It’s organised on a league basis, normally in groups producing a winner who then goes on to the semi-final and final with an eventual winner.

We had 20 participants last year and I’m sure that will be more this year.

SNOOKER COMPETITION 2021/22 - FINAL

This year’s snooker final resulted in victory for Graham Smith who defeated Andy Pickford by two frames to nil with both frames closely fought and congratulations to them both.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s competition which was very well supported and proved to be a great success.

I will send out details of this year’s competition shortly and hope for even more participants.
