The LAGS
As well as their regular meet, the Lags play a series of Home & Away matches against other local clubs.
The Motto “Dum Vivimus Vivamus” is roughly translated as “While you live, live well”

Latest Secretary Update - May 2022
With a welcome influx of new LAGS, we now have 100 members.
The ball box for the Monday morning draw is fully used and we now have the use the overflow box.
LAGS Treasurer
After many years of sterling work on our behalf, Roy Matthews has finally managed to relinquish the role. Our heartfelt thanks to Roy.
The new treasurer is Paul Lord.
LAGS Annual Membership
Some of you may have noticed that the £5 annual fee has not been collected yet.
We made the decision to realign with the club membership renewal date and this will now be deducted from your bar cards in the next couple of weeks. If anyone does not want to renew, please inform Paul Lord as soon as possible.
Matches
These are now underway and it is pleasing to report wins in the first two against Lambourne and Moor Park.
The home match against Calcot Park has been moved from Monday 11th July to Monday 10th October. Calcot had a clash with a Reading Seniors League match.
An updated diary is attached. It is also on the LAGS Noticeboard.
I have been asked by a few people, playing LAGS matches for the first time, what the arrangements are. For clarity they are:
- Whether home or away, we normally gather for tea/coffee at least 30 minutes before the first group tee-off to meet the opposition. It also avoids the warden worrying that someone has forgotten to turn up!
- It is a preference that everyone wears our team colours of a pale blue club shirt with navy pullover and navy shorts/trousers.
- For home matches we expect everyone to change after playing. Our dress code is smart casual with jackets optional and ties not required.
- For away matches, I am trying to establish what is required at the host club. Most seem to have adopted a smart casual approach like ours, but if in doubt please take a jacket and tie to avoid any embarrassment.
4BBB Knockout (Thorp Goblets)
The draw has now been made and those entered informed. For general information it is also on the LAGS Noticeboard.
Best regards
Pete
